Original Manufacturer Part March 28, 2009 A. Hodge (Salem, OR) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This item actually has the HTC logo and is specifically designed for HTC phones.
This device allowed me to connect a 3.5mm stereo plug to my sound system to play music from the phone. Also, I use the 2.5mm stereo plug to connect to my car stereo.
Whats more, you can even plug a car/home charger into the device at the same time as the stereo plugs. This is very convenient in the car with a car charger. I made an adapter like this before with the Cingular 8125 but the problem was you would hear a "whining" sound in the stereo when the car charger was plugged in at the same time. With this device, you do not have that issue.
Its a very nice multifunction device, and at the price its selling for, you cant beat it.
Enables Powerful Youtube experience on T-mobile G1 (google phone) March 27, 2009 Mohana K. Ramanujam (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very nice adaptor to charge, connect audio jack at the same time for the T-mobile G1 (Google Phone). Youtube videos are the killer app enabled by this device. Have used it now for a couple of months.
No sound distoration. I have one I leave in my car so that I can connect a car usb charger to it and attach the audio cable to my car stereo system so that I can enjoy youtube music videos with audio piped in through to the car speakers.
I have one at home that I use to charge the G1 (via laptop or direct wall charger again using usb cable) and also have audio connected to a home stereo system (again to enjoy youtube music videos). The laptop-G1 phone config is to charge G1, sync G1 with laptop, and route audio from laptop (or G1) to external speakers. The fact is, with this device you don't need a laptop to enjoy Youtube at home, away or in the car. I use the logitech pure-fi anywhere compact speakers designed for ipod (one solution for ipod, G1, and laptop).
As an aiside: I also use[...] to keep track of, among other things, updates of music videos (of interest to me) from Youtube on my G1 (and laptop).
Have Fun!
Sprint Mogul users, Beware. July 3, 2009 Garth T. Ogle (Baltimore, MD USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a really nice expansion, but - and I haven't upgraded the firmware (I have the original firmware) - if you plug in a 3.5mm audio jack it will stop outputting sound. I think this version of the phone treats the 3.5mm signal as a microphone, as when I have the OEM headphones plugged in with the 3.5mm audio jack (both at the same time) it immediately tries to audio speed dial.
If you disable voice speed dial, plug first the OEM headphones in (listen for sound to come out) and then plug in the 3.5mm audio jack, keeping the headphones plugged in. This will cause the unit to no longer try to voice speed dial and will output sound through the 3.5mm audio jack. Why there is this configuration issue I don't know! But there you have it.
As for the rest of the properties - this unit is much sturdier than the various 3rd party ones (and even the ones that come with the Mogul) and beside the glaring issue (beware if you are trying to get your phone to work like an IPOD, for my own phone this did not work without finagling) it is the best solution. The ports are spread out better, making it easier to plug in power and audio. (The unit that comes with the phone has the ports too close together, so if you are using a 3rd party mobile/air power adapter - such as a cigarette lighter adapter - the interchangeable tip is too bulky to sit next to the audio jack. This unit does not suffer from this issue since the plugs are on different sides of the 'box'.)
I will update the firmware when I get a chance and update this review.
great product! August 6, 2009 A. Mathew (Des Plaines, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this for my T-mobile Wing and it works great. I hooked it up to an FM transmitter so I can play all my songs on my car stereo. I love the fact that I can also charge the phone at the same time while I listen to music. I would highly recommend this product if you have a compatible phone (this is an official HTC product so this would work with all HTC phones w/mini usb port).
Great Addition to my TILT/TyTn II August 31, 2009 Russell L. Roberts (Annapolis, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of the things that HTC doesn't do well is interoperability. They produce a world class device but don't make it easy to use industry standard accessories. This little box allows users of several HTC phones to use standard headphones and charge/sync the phone at the same time.
It arrived factory packaged and HTC logoed and provides the functions described without issue. My only negative on this; it could be smaller the Tilt is large enough but adding a 4 inch box hanging out the bottom makes it difficult to carry. However, if you (like me) are sitting on an airplane and want to use your noise suppression headphones, it is well worth the hassle of size.
