5 out of 5 stars Great HD TV, now get your blu-ray ready   June 12, 2010

This is a very good buy: The Sony quality speaks for itself, and this TV does not disappoint. However, if you are considering it, make sure you understand that this TV has a normal (non-HD) Freeview tuner. So, out of the box, the only way to appreciate the full 1080p HD quality is by watching a blu-ray film. Now, having said that, it is an amazing experience to watch a blu-ray film on it. It is almost surreal: every detail, every hair strand, every grain of sand just jumps at you.
I recommend it. You can get the same TV for about £200 more, if you shop around carefully (some people must prefer paying more, otherwise John Lewis and M&S would be out of business by now).

Received the TV last week and set it up. I was blown away by the picture quality and that was an upgrade from an old Sony CRT telly! I was quite surprised at the price compared to other sites and did consider the EX403 version at one point as it has built-in Freeview HD but didn't due to cost.

All in all, this is a beautiful set and I definitely made the right choice!

Purchased this TV to replace my old one which was not a Sony. Very fast delivery was really shocked when it arrived when it did. Was really easy to set up. The picture quality is brilliant and it makes watching DVD's and freeview very enjoyable. The price is amazing as this Tv is very expensive on other sites. Very pleased that i made the decision to buy this Tv as i wasnt sure at first. However will not be wasting my time watching the world cup on it!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   June 18, 2010

As has been said before this is a great TV and well worth spending the bit extra money to get this than the 301 due to the leap to 1080p/i.The clarity of the picture really is fantastic. This is the best price for the TV around and I can't wait to try some DVD's to experience it fully! The tv is simple to use and comes with a built in manual should you have problems. The remote is clearly laid out so that you can really get started virtually straight away.

5 out of 5 stars SD on an HD telly finally beats CRT?   June 26, 2010

As has been said before - this is a fantastic screen.

Currently connected to:
Xbox 360 via HDMI @ 1080p
Virgin V+ box via HDMI @ 720p
DVD via Scart @SD res

Bought this telly just over 2 months ago as a replacement for a CRT Sony Trinitron but i also own a 32" 1080p Panasonic Viera.
A lot has been written already about the Bravia so i won't repeat those comments already made but will say that this screen's 5-star across-the-board rating is well and truly valid.
1080p performance is as good as it should be (ie - superb) and surpasses the 2 year old Viera by some margin. Things have moved on a bit in since 2008 - motion is handled better, backlighting is far less intrusive and blacks are much deeper. Perhaps the Viera's inbuilt speakers are a tad superior though.

One major improvement is the way in which this screen handles SD pictures. Gone are the sharp edges and blockiness of older (far more expensive) LCD screens. Like many i've clung to the belief that CRT TVs are the way to watch SD but, upon the death of my old Trinitron, have been blown away by the versatility of the new Bravia. Upscaling really does work here and i do believe SD on HD screens may have finally come of age.

Highly recommended.
