5 out of 5 stars Just the ticket!   July 7, 2010

I have been looking for a small, high capacity flash pendrive for a while. I did not want one with a light indicator and wanted a trustworthy brand. I needed one for my Tevion portable DVD player so I could stick all my movies on it. Any flashing light would be a nuisance and any big flash pendrive would be a nuisance. The pendrive installed automatically on my mac and it did not take long to transfer video files. Have now got a back series of Lost on it and plays perfectly on my Tevion divx portable DVD player(2010 version) even though it supposedly supports up to 8gb my 16gb flash pendrive works seamlessly.
There are a couple of issues I suppose: the pendrive is slightly plasticky and there is no shielding top. But for me it is solid enough and I can always get a case for it if needed. It is small, and has a decent keyring hole. I have given it 5 stars because it is ideal for my use. Am extremely pleased with it and always trust Sandisk products. Hope this review helps( tech specs are easy to find elsewhere).

5 out of 5 stars SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive Great!   July 27, 2010

I have now purchased 2 of the SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drives, and i must
say that out of all the other USB drives i have used and purchased in the past the
SanDisk is the most reliable and works well between Macs and PC's. The read write speed is quite good ans the unit is very small, easily fitting into a pocket. It is made
from mostly plastic but i have found it to be very sturdy and very light. Some people say it could be asily lost and i agree, but if you attach a lanyard to the body of the unit you can easily wear this around your neck; without noticing it is there it is that light.

Even though it is very light and small this is a very well made and reliable drive, i have so far had no failures to mount or problems with this tiny mighty USB Drive. Also the suppier was very prompt and reliable in the delivery of the unit.

*******************************
Sandisk Cruzer Blade 16GB USB flash drive
*******************************

There is not a lot of point repeating the information in other reviews, I'll try and add something.

It is tiny, seems robust, has no cap, Ideally you need a small ring and a big ring to keychain it.
It is 5 star value for the combination of size, performance and price. Like most flash drives the the read speed is significantly faster than the write speed, for a "dynamic" drive something faster might be more suitable, but for writing not very often and reading a lot it performs admirably.

It is fast enough to be utilised with the Windows Vista / 7 "readyboost" feature though I cannot make any sense of the recommended Windows settings, but then again the recommended Windows pagefile settings do not make any sense to me either.

To get the best out of "readyboost" IMO (on a typical Vista [or 7] basic PC / laptop like mine) :
Set the page file sizes to zero and restart, this clears the pagefile.
Then set the pagefile to the same minimum and maximum sizes - this maintains an unfragmented pagefile.
For 1GB RAM set the pagefile size to 2GB, for 2GB RAM set the pagefile size to 1GB (my case).
Then set the "readyboost" cache to be equal to the pagefile size used.

Opinions may vary on the above but the settings are far better than Windows recommended settings.
FWIW "readyboost" is essentially a faster duplicate copy of the pagefile, more RAM makes its less useful.
(Because the Vista/7 "SuperFetch" feature fills up all the RAM before it goes onto the pagefile.)

So to summarise it very good value and is fast enough to allow the Windows "readyboost" feature, this means it has decent read/write random access speed as well as read/write sequential access speed,
at the price what more could you want ?
Lots of GB's and a possible boost to your PC's performance.

The fact that the tests Windows performs on a device to assess its "readyboost" capability are passed
means that you can buy this device with confidence, knowing it has decent all round performance.

Update :

Those readyboost test standards are (with consistency across the whole disk) :
2.5 MB/sec minimum for 4 KB random reads ......: measured in Vista = 3.44 MB/sec.
1.75 MB/sec minimum for 512 KB random writes..: measured in Vista = 2.57 MB/sec.

CrystalDiskMark : Sequential Read = 19.0 MB/sec : Sequential Write = 3.33 MB/sec.

So pretty slow speed when writing but a surprisingly rapid speed when reading data off it.

I bought this flash drive to replace another which had broken. I was looking for a small flash drive that i could save my e-portfolio onto. I wanted a really small drive to fit it into my wallet.

Prose:
Pretty small. (not the smallest)
Good data transfer rate.
Plastic is sturdy.
Looks good
Can be connected to key chain.

Cons:
No data transfer light. (thought I never looked an it on any other drives)
No dust cap. (good for me as I keep loosing them)
Plastic head could ware over time. (thought I have been using it for over 3 months excessively and the head is still in good working order)
