I purchased this stylish DVD player with a considerable discount on the best high street price.
I needed a small but discrete player to use with a smaller second tv and this fitted the bill but it would work very well in a main TV set up.
Picture quality is very good and it gives good reproduction of cds through my hi fi system. It was easy to set up and use. CD ripping is a very useful function.HDMI conection excellent but beware no scart which could limit use with older tv
Very pleased and highly recomennded.

Lovely looking gadget to start with. Need to buy a separate HDMI cable but i got one for a couple of quid on Amazon at the same time. The picture produced on my LCD TV is fantastic - so different to my older dvd player. Well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Stunning piece of equipment   July 31, 2009

I bought this upscaling DVD player to replace my old one which took up too much space on my tv cabinet and was becoming tempremental.

I had been playing a balancing act, trying to fit my tv, dvd player and xbox all onto a very small area and this Samsung has made my life so much easier.

First off, it complements my Samsung LCD and works using the DVD buttons on my tv control, so I can use the basic functions without even hunting for the DVD remote.

Secondly, what a stunner. The glossy finish and the stylish design are amazing, and the touch sensitive buttons are a nifty extra.

An HDMI cable is not included, but can be bought for £1 on ebay. I have a fair few knocking around so this was not a problem. With my HDMI cable, it worked straight out of the box and was a doddle to get up and running.

There is also a USB slot which allows for the ripping of cd's. It can also allow you to put downloaded films onto a memory stick and watch them via your tv without plugging your laptop into the tv.

The remote is small, but doesn't really create much of an issue, it shall merely be taped to my megatron as a slight addendum.

Can't fault the equipment at all, and Amazon where lightening quick with it. Purchased using the on click purchasing, and with one day delivery for free using Prime. Magic!

5 out of 5 stars The full package in one compact unit   June 28, 2009

Having been using the player for a couple of weeks now I am in a position to give a review that compliments the functionality. The design is impressive giving a change from the normal flat square box of a tradional player - at the end of the day its an item thats on display therefore it should have good aesthetic appeal. The unit i bought was the all black unit and not the rose tint version which fortunately matches my likewise black samsung TV. The unit syncs efficiently using the Anynet+ system giving basic control of the player i.e. play, pause, ffwd rew on/off from your samsung TV remote. To gain control of the players other functions grab the units remote. On that note, the control for the unit is small / compact, whilst some have commented on this being too small and therefore fiddly i dont get that immpression personally - generally remotes for dvd players are somewhat over sized due to the many (unused) bottons on them. The player itself has limited connectivity in terms of ports - i.e. HDMI, RCA and component out - that being said - as the player provides dvd upscaling prodominent connectivity would be conducted via a HDMI lead anyway or a componemt output to achieve a desired standard of viewing. sticking with the rear of the unit, this is where you will find the USB input, which in part i found somewhat of an issue for trying to slot in a flash drive although that being said this unit has a certain aesthetic design and to place this slot elsewhere would impact upon this. Flowing round to the front of the unit the 'touch sensitive' play/pause, eject and power buttons are as you would find them on other recent samsung devices and work well again here - after all - the majority of your engagment with the commands would occur from the remote anyway. The dvd tray seems to be flush with the body of the player and therefore indiscreet. The performance of the player is great, playing all your discs, jpegs, mp3's inc. your DIVX encoded files and SRT subs. Another good feature is its ability to rip music from an inserted music cd onto a flash drive inserted at the rear to mp3 format with a limited choice of kbps quality - the only frustrating thing after that is that you need to perform your ID tagging thereafter. So, overall - great. Go buy one.
